Things To Do in the Keswick Area... Keswick is the perfect location if you wish to explore the northern lakes and fells of the English Lake District National Park. The town itself is on the shores of Derwentwater and is surrounded by magnificent fells including Skiddaw, Blencathra and Catbells with the Coledale Fells and Borrowdale just a short drive away. The walking here is excellent whatever standard you enjoy. Several major walking routes such as the Cumbria Way and the Allerdale Ramble pass through the area, as well as cycle routes such as the Coast to Coast (C2C). Skiddaw, overlooking Keswick, is the 4th highest mountain in England (3053ft) and the views from the top are some of the best in the Lake District. Whether it is fell walking, climbing, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, paragliding or mountain biking, there is always something for everyone in the Keswick and North Lakes area. Derwentwater is a popular lake for water sports and has its own Keswick Launch Service stopping at several points around the Lake, allowing you to walk so far, and cruise the rest. The town itself is well known for its excellent restaurants, tea shops and traditional inns serving great food and real ales, offering something for every taste and budget. Feeling peckish? Why not try Café Bar 26, on Lake Road, just down from the famous George Fisher outdoor store. We offer delicious continental style lunches between 12.00 and 14.30, freshly prepared, using only the finest ingredients.
